Job Description
JOB PURPOSE
To manage the implementation of ADCB’s enterprise-wide Operational Risk framework, strategy and policies in order to ensure operational risks are managed within agreed parameters
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Operational Risk Framework and Policy
- Lead the design and implementation of the Operational Risk Framework, strategy and policies while ensuring the proper and effective implementation of same to ensure optimal operational risk management on an enterprise level
Operational Risk Assessments
- Conduct operational risk and control assessments across ADCB and ensure escalation, tracking and remediation of defective controls to maintain a robust control framework
- Review all new products, processes, procedures (old and new) and vendors in order to assess the operational risks associated with each and recommend remedial action
Operational Risk Support
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to Business Unit Heads and Business Operational Risk Managers in order to assist them with the interpretation and implementation of policy and framework requirements
Training
- Design and deliver operational risk training material to promote a risk management and compliance culture across ADCB
Risk Monitoring and Reconciliation
- Create operational risk measurement metrics and obtain data to measure and monitor performance against required standards
- Ensure operational risk losses are reconciled to the relevant general ledger accounts within the business and that correct data is provided to Finance to calculate capital adequacy requirements
Reporting
- Prepare operational risk reporting packs for management and board committees to keep them apprised of the operational risk status within the group and support them in decision making
People Management (where applicable)
- Manage self and team in line with ADCB’s people management policies, procedures, processes and practices to ensure adherence and to maximise own and employee contribution to business performance
- Organise and supervise the activities and work of the team to ensure that targets and objectives are achieved and the business plan is delivered in line with the required policies, processes, procedures and systems
Policies, Processes, Systems and Procedures
- Recommend and implement improvements to departmental policies, procedures and processes covering all areas of activity so that all relevant procedural requirements are fulfilled while ensuring that ADCB delivers best-in-class services, products and innovation
Continuous Improvement
- Manage and motivate the team to ensure they contribute to, and participate in, the identification and implementation of change initiatives, programmes and projects in line with the bank’s standards
Skills
Minimum Experience
At least 10 years of experience in operational risk or control and management
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree as a minimum
